AN INTRODUCTION LETTER WRITTEN IN MARCH, 2013:
Dear Pastors, Mission Pastors, Mobilizers, Perspectives Alumni, and Everyone with a heart to see the world reached for Jesus:
On Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2011 an EF 5 tornado hit Joplin, MO. I’m sure you remember. Maybe you went up to help in the relief effort like me. I was shocked to see what happened and realize over 150 died, 1100 were injured and the cost is estimated at $2.8 billion. I was also struck by the fact of how many people responded to help so quickly. I happened to work with a local church that was transformed into a relief center. Parking lots were rapidly filling with needed supplies. Inside the church, hallways were stacked with supplies of food, and water. Tons of people were organizing work crews and the fellowship hall became the command center. I’m sure the church service the following Sunday was noticeably different!
This is mobilization. Simply stated, mobilization is the movement of manpower and supplies to render quick and efficient aid to meet enormous needs. In a similar way, the church is still in the mobilization business. That is, moving people, using resources, and planning strategically to bring Christ’s redemption to a fallen world that struggles daily.
All of this brings me to YOU! We want to invite you to join a group of “mobilizers” here in Northwest Arkansas. We need you to work alongside us to move the local body of Christ into the unreached and unengaged peoples of the earth. As you know, the task although immense, is doable!
Jesus prayed for us in John 17:20-23. He prayed for our unity as believers so that the world would believe that the Father sent the Son.(21) “It would seem that the unity of Jesus followers is a prerequisite for the whole world to know that God sent Jesus.” (Paul Borthwick) To be an answer to this I ask you to consider this vision:
Our vision is to gather a unified group of believers, passionate about the Great Commission and the Great Commandment, who seek ways to work together to bring glory to God through reaching every ethne. We recognize the strategic importance for the mission’s community to come together and see how the Lord might guide our efforts more effectively.
That All May Hear Soon!
